Dedicated to the Promotion and Increased Knowledge and Appreciation of North Carolina’s Heritage
The Society annually presents awards in several fields to individuals, including the Society Award, Book Award, William Stevens Powell Award and the H.G. Jones History Awards.
The Archie K. Davis Fellowships promote more extensive and intensive research in North Carolina’s history and culture and assist scholars in gaining access to resources contributing to knowledge of the state’s past.
The Society regularly assists in publications that promote our rich heritage and many of these imprints are available for purchase.
Committed to supporting our state’s K-12 teachers, the Society developed the William Friday Teacher Education Initiative and regularly sponsors retreats and special events.
